About Liz Greene

Midwife Specialist, New Zealand

I’ve spent more than 20 years working alongside women and families as a midwife and nurse in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Throughout my career I’ve had the privilege of hearing countless stories — birth stories, parenting stories and life stories. Again and again, I’ve witnessed the strength women carry as they navigate one of the most significant transitions in life: becoming a mother.

Supporting women has always felt instinctive to me.
It’s not just what I do — it’s who I am.

Whether listening, holding space or offering guidance when asked, this work fills my cup and continues to shape the way I support others today.

Professional Background

My professional background includes over two decades of experience in midwifery and nursing, along with postgraduate study in Well Child and Counselling.

I have also worked as a Plunket Tamariki Ora Nurse, supporting families from newborn through to early childhood.

Over the years, I have supported women through pregnancy, birth, the postnatal period and early parenting, as well as working alongside health professionals navigating the emotional and professional demands of clinical practice.

This depth of experience allows me to offer both compassionate understanding and practical insight within a confidential and respectful environment.

My Personal Story

My passion for this work is also shaped by my own experience of motherhood.

My husband and I welcomed premature twins at 29 weeks — an intense and life-changing beginning to parenting. After weeks on an antenatal ward and a caesarean birth, my focus quickly shifted to caring for my babies and moving forward.

What stayed with me most was that no one asked how I was — not really.

Years later, following the birth of our third child, emotions I had never processed surfaced in a way I hadn’t expected. Like many women, I carried my experiences quietly and simply kept going.

These experiences shaped my belief that women deserve space to speak openly about their journeys — to be heard, supported and understood without judgement.

It is this understanding that now sits at the heart of my work.

Who I Support

Today, I offer confidential online support for women and health professionals across New Zealand.

For women, this may include time to reflect on pregnancy, birth or early motherhood, or space to process experiences that feel unresolved or difficult to carry alone.

For midwives and nurses, I provide professional supervision — a structured, confidential space for reflection, growth and support within practice.

My role is not to direct or judge, but to walk alongside you, offering calm, experienced and compassionate support.

How I Work

All sessions are held online via secure video appointment, allowing access to support wherever you are in New Zealand.

I offer a non-judgemental, respectful and confidential environment where you can speak freely and feel heard.

This service is suited to those seeking thoughtful, reflective support and is not a crisis mental health service. If urgent support is required, please contact your GP or local emergency services.

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step.

If you’re wondering whether this space might be right for you, you’re welcome to book a complimentary 15-minute discovery call to connect and ask any questions.
